Using Waymo in San Francisco to see the Golden Gate Bridge was such a fun and unique experience! If you’re unfamiliar with Waymo, it’s an autonomous ride-hailing service that uses self-driving cars, and San Francisco is one of the few cities where it operates. We decided to take it for a spin on our way to see the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
Hopping into a car that drives itself might sound a little futuristic (and maybe a tad nerve-wracking), but once we were in, it was surprisingly smooth. The car handled the hilly streets of San Francisco like a pro, and it was cool to just sit back and enjoy the views without having to focus on driving.
We set Waymo to take us to one of the best vantage points for the Golden Gate Bridge—Battery Spencer, which offers an incredible panoramic view of the bridge and the city. Not having to worry about parking or navigating SF’s busy streets was a huge plus. As the car cruised over to the Marin Headlands, we got to soak in the city and bay views through the windows. The entire ride felt effortless, and once we arrived, we were greeted by one of the most breathtaking views of the bridge.
If you’re visiting San Francisco and looking for a different way to sightsee, I highly recommend giving Waymo a try. Not only does it offer a fun tech-forward experience, but it’s also super convenient for getting around the city—especially when you're headed to a popular spot like the Golden Gate Bridge.
